Hammerfile: "Eric Who?" Neathery

Eric Who? NeatheryWell, I started hunting or at least following the hunting party when I was real young. I tagged along with my Great Grandfather, in Wisconsin, on my first great hunting adventures. Carrying a double barreled cork gun. ( I shot a lot of coons with that old cork gun) .. Ha Ha.... Any way I was raised on hunting, fishing and trapping. My Grandparents lived on a ranch in Montana were I was able to take my first deer... I was hooked for good!

Over the past 15 years or so the dear population of Illinois (my home state) has skyrocketed. I have focused on bow hunting whitetail deer more than any other type of hunting. I do turkey hunt although up to now I haven't had a great deal of success at it. I do quite enjoy calling and hunting them though.

My parents own a farm in Illinois were I have been blessed with the opportunity to harvest several nice whitetails, including a 16 point non-typical that scored 174 3/8 Boone and Crocketin "97",( I call him "Bullwinkle" ). Also a Typical 10 that scored 158 5/8 Pope and Young in "03" I have several 8's and 10's that make pope and young including two 10 point bucks in "04"

The best part is my 11 year old son, Tyler has starting bow hunting this coming season and gets to hunt a place that produces amazing deer like this! I hope to get some film of his first kill be it a big buck a spike or a doe... if you truly hunt it, it is a trophy! Tyler has been hunting with me since the age of 4 and is pretty advanced in his knowledge of bow hunting for a kid his age. So I will be praying HE gets the big one this year!

My big goal this year and hopefully, God willing, for many years is to film as much of the great stuff I see every year and share it with every one. How many times, while telling your hunting and or fishing story did you say... "I wish I had filmed that"? Well I know I have said it one to many times!
